Ever After High

I've never hated backgrounds more in my life :'D But I was already frustrated since drawing this was much more challenging that I've thought.

Let's talk about this picture before I vomit all of my opinions about the animated series here. It was clear from the start that I had to do this digitally, because I didn't had nearly enough coloring pencils to make up every color on their hair (seriously, does every character have like four different shades in their hair?). But I also wanted to have kinda animated look in the pic, just like in the show. Madeline Hatter (being as cuckoo as me) alongside with Raven Queen are my absolute favorites from the series and I enjoy every episode where they are doing something wacky together! Although I still think about mint ice cream whenever I look at Maddie's hair.

Then the ramble about the series.
I have to make a confession. I love Ever After High series! Those who read my descriptions know that I started watching it solely because one of my favorite Finnish voice actors (Katja Sirkiä, the voice of Snow Queen Elsa) was the voice of Raven Queen. I seriously thought that EAH was just one more animated series for young girls which would contain a lots of sighing over boys, make-ups and 'I broke my nail'-kind of jokes.
I was so terribly wrong. From the very first episode I was hooked, mostly because I was so surprised how good the writing actually was! It is clever and really funny! Nothing spectacular though, but remember, I was ready to hate this show's writing. Every single character is likable and Raven is very relatable! Sure, there are few jokes that are probably too 'girly' for my taste, but that's the funny thing: they fit in the series. They're not just thrown in to get a cheap laugh, they really fit in the situation. And also the amount of original jokes is awesome (I seriously laughed like a hyena when Apple White ordered Briar Rose to leave her room, and Briar's first option is to jump out from the window! How many series has that?) The series has also really interesting story line in the Wonderland season, I highly recommend this to everyone who loves fairy tales and good humor. Even the animation style is fitting, since the characters are so complex in thei designs. Many parts of the characters move when they walk around so it can clearly be seen that the animators know what they're doing.

There's only one thing I can't tolerate though; they possibly can't run around with those high heels that every character seem to have!

So that's the reason why fan art happened. I don't know if I've reason to draw more (since the characters ARE really complex) and the series is kinda short (at least in Finland's Netflix), but I think it deserves at least one pic from me. It really surprised me and now Ever After High is easily one of my favorite animated series.
